In Memory of Lonnie Alan Wood

Born: 15 May, 1970, Ft. Polk, Louisiana
Passed away: 6 June, 2003

The cause of his death is not known. The hospital couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. In the end, they decided it was a rare disorder of the liver. It was strange since he was not a drinking person. He was proud to be known as "an Army brat." He was very patriotic, and pro military. He loved racing...any kind. At the time of his passing, he worked part time on a pit crew for a friend of his who races sprint cars. He never married, and had no children. He had one sister, and one niece, who he loved dearly.

I wrote this poem the morning after he passed away.

I know you can't see me....
But please know I'm there.

I know you can't touch me...
But please know I'm near.

I know you all loved me...
And I loved you too.

I know that you'll miss me...
Don't dwell on the situation.

Just think of the good things...
And know I've gone racin.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane.
I'd walk right up to heaven, and bring you home again.
