I'M NOT A BRAT..OR AM I?
by April McCormick
My name is April McCormick and I am a corporate brat. I have read through your web-site and felt a huge relief. I am not from anywhere! I went to 11 different schools throughout my education. I can make friends but I cannot maintain the relationships. I want to travel for a living because it feels natural. I do not have many possessions so I can pick up and move at a moments notice.
I am 26 will I ever be normal? I cannot even maintain a personal relationship. I guess I have realized I am very different from the people that surround me. I also live in Louisville KY and very few people that I have met have lived anywhere but here. I met an army brat at a party a few years ago in college and it was so nice to talk to someone who had experienced different cultures and life.
While I am also very different from army brats I relate more to them than I do to most. My brother is a workaholic owning his own business by 22 and he lacks long term friends as well. Telling my story to Louisvillians is a waste of time because they either do not, can not or will not believe me. Therapy is pointless I just want to talk to people like me and hear how they cope with the differences.
Thank you very much for this web-site I feel a little more like the norm. I would never in a million years trade in my life for a one-city-life. I love the experiences I have lived and the skills I have to talk to anyone that will listen. I would just love to talk with someone more like me!
