2 A.M. TRIPS
by Shelly Rodgers
One of my fondest memories of my military brat days were the early morning (2am) trips my family would make when we had to travel across the country to get to the next assignment. My parents would pack the car the night before and at 2am put my sister and I (pajamas and all) into the back seat. I would sleep on the back seat and my sister, who was ten years younger, would sleep at my feet. I know we did not travel the superhighways because I remember traveling through many sleepy towns just waking up or "ghost towns" before dawn. I still have trouble staying awake in the car but I also get a very sentimental traveling through a town late at night or in the early morning.
